Year 1 meet a Meteorologist

Year One were pleased to welcome Mr Martin Bowles, a meteorologist from the Met office in Exeter. Our afternoon was full of exciting activities. We even made our own cloud.

Mr Bowles told us all about his job as a meteorologist and how Charlie (his friend from ITV news) rings him to find out the weather for the forecast on the television.

Part of his job is to tell the councils when to grit the roads, to advise supermarkets on the weather so they know if they need to stock hats and gloves or sunglasses and he also needs to send weather reports to the airport for the pilots.

One of our favourite things was Mr Bowles’ tie – can you see the weather symbols?
